We are still in the process of working on getting a whole new map created as well. We've gotten new Map Assets to include: Sewers, Tunnels, Mines, Underground Buidlings, etc. And we will be getting more in the future to go with the Metro theme of the server. This is a long term project, as we are looking into this so we can have a stronger foundation for the map, that will be better suited for the server. This will allow us a lot more freedom when adding things to the server, and creating unique areas/zones for the Metro.
We will also still looking for Developers to support in the development of the new map! Pass the word around that we are looking! To include but not limited to:
Dwellers,
It has been sometime without a status update. We apologize for such a long time between closing and the first major status update. I want to start off with what I posted in the Discord first; Everyone on the entire staff team is doing this out of their passion for DayZ and the Metro games. They are dedicating their time for this project, so you have to remember that things come up in everyone's daily lives. Which is one reason this update has been taking ages to get out. Please take this into consideration when thinking about this project. We all want the server to reopen as much as the community does, but we want it at a state we can be proud with. Good things do take time, now we want to release everything near perfectly (Nothing is Perfect).
We would like to thank the entire community for the continue patience as we work on the full release of the server. Working through getting new content and fixing old bugs from previous betas.
The Management Team want this release to be feature/content packed which is why we are still working on everything for you all!
For a full release the below list will need to be completed:
We are still in the process of working on getting a whole new map created as well, this will be a more long term project and will not hold up the release of the server. We are looking into this so we can have a stronger foundation for the map, that will be better suited for the server. This will allow us a lot more freedom when adding things to the server, and creating unique areas/zones for the Metro.
On behalf of the Owners & Staff Team I would like to thank you all personally for the commitment the player base has shown for the community. Without the community this server wouldn't be where it is today, and in the end we all want the same thing for the server. At this time we do not have a clear date when the server will be released. We have to work through the list above then we will be able to get a date for the community. We look forward to seeing you all at our full release once we finish up with the development.
As things from the list get complete we will be posting them in the Leaks channel in Discord, you will also begin to see updates to GitHub Repos under Development Updates as new things get added.
We will also be looking for a Community Ambassador that will interface/integrate with the community. The Community Ambassador will not be a Staff Member with official/moderation powers, but will be there to speak to the community, host Q&A panels, talk about progress, development, advertise the server, and to bring any concern up from the community directly to the Staff Team on behalf of the community. More info to come on the role in the near future.
We will also still looking for Developers to support in the development period. Pass the word around that we are looking! To include but not limited to:
Some may think this is not a lot, but I feel that some do not realize a lot of this is being done from scratch. We are having to find Developers who are able to complete the tasks at hand. Some may think that we can just use mods already created and we do for somethings. But most items cannot or if they are on the workshop, they are not implemented properly and we cannot edit them so we are having to do it on our own, so it will be implemented correctly. That is why the server is taking longer to develop and we do not want players on a buggy server, this is all to make the QoL better for the community. We want to make sure we have a server that everyone can enjoy right from the beginning at launch. If you feel that the server will die due to this delay then that is your opinion, but I will speak for the Management Team here that we are passionate about this project and we will see it all the way through. It will not die due to this delay or lack of interest from the Management Team.
Thank you all
-Metro: Heart of Moscow Management Team
Note this is an update from the official discord server:
The time has come for this last and final Beta to close, the Management team has come to the conclusion that we have gathered all of the necessary information we need to finishing developing the server for a full release. Therefore we will be closing the server down Friday Feb 24th at midnight EST.
Once we close the server down we will go into a development period where we will be fixing issues that are in the Bug Tickets & Bug Channels. Along with going over all of the suggestions that have been posted providing responses to them and seeing if it is possible to add with the mechanics of DayZ. During this time, we will lock the suggestions & some feedback channel as the Staff Team goes over everything that has been posted. We will also be locking some of the Beta Channels, leaving the Beta General chat open for the meantime. These channels will be locked come Sunday evening EST.
Additionally the Beta Applications will be closed as this is the last Beta and we will switch over to the normal Whitelist Application that we have together.
During this downtime we will be posting Development Updates and you'll see progress in the Discord and the development-updates channel. We will also be looking at holding some community meetings to discuss our plans & progress during this development period in our Community Meetings Stage. Additionally we will be working with the Main Factions to improve the QoL within the Main Stations. I will also make sure that our Storyboard once filled out will be accessible to the community to track the progress we are making on the server.
The Senior Staff+ Teams have been hard at work coming up with a plan for the downtime and what we will be working on and prioritizing.
Here is a little sneak peak of what we already have lined up and queued for development:
On behalf of the Owners & Staff Team I would like to thank you all personally for participating in our Betas over the past year. Firstly I'd like to wish everyone a happy holiday. Over the last year, we here at Metro: Heart of Moscow have been working on creating a new avenue for DayZ Roleplay. Slowly but surely we have gotten further and further in making a setting that is not only new but immersive. With the communities help with testing, suggestions and bug fixing we have come a long way that is not only a huge step but also the right step in the direction we wish to see.
We will continue to add, change and improve our server as months go on but at this moment we are ready to release the final beta for our server. So with that being said we have implemented our passport system to allow a more immersive life within the metro system. This will allow our factions that are already on the server to increase their station security and enforce their way of life. This new system creates all different avenues with roleplay and we hope we can see some stories created by this job alone. We're still working towards Dweller QoL changes that will improve gameplay loop.
We hope that you will join us on this last sprint towards full release and with your help we will all continue to grow as a community.
We will be launching the final beta 26th December 2 PM EST
Thank you all & Welcome to the Final Beta!
-Wong, Divined, & Randy
