Metro: Heart of Moscow Status Update!

July 5, 2023

Dwellers,

It has been sometime without a status update. We apologize for such a long time between closing and the first major status update. I want to start off with what I posted in the Discord first; Everyone on the entire staff team is doing this out of their passion for DayZ and the Metro games. They are dedicating their time for this project, so you have to remember that things come up in everyone's daily lives. Which is one reason this update has been taking ages to get out. Please take this into consideration when thinking about this project. We all want the server to reopen as much as the community does, but we want it at a state we can be proud with. Good things do take time, now we want to release everything near perfectly (Nothing is Perfect).

We would like to thank the entire community for the continue patience as we work on the full release of the server. Working through getting new content and fixing old bugs from previous betas.

The Management Team want this release to be feature/content packed which is why we are still working on everything for you all!

For a full release the below list will need to be completed:

ToDo/Tasks:

  • Weapons:
We are getting 17 New Weapons being imported into DayZ. The new weapons are going to be directly based off the Metro games, these will also be a huge improvement from the current TLS weapons that we are using. This will allow us to modify our new weapons more than the TLS weapon to make sure that the damage is setup properly. We are also looking into some Homemade Weapons that can be in Dweller weapon benches that would add diversity to the Metro. These Homemade Weapons will add 11 new homemade style weapons, if implemented. The new weapons will include:

    • AK12 "Sammy", AK74M, AKS74U, Duplet, Helsing, Kalash2012, Preved, Revolver, RPK-M, Ubludok, Uboinik, Valve (Ventil), VSSK (Vyhlop), VSV (VSK-94). Tikhar, Railgun, Trench Knife
  • Clothing:
The Management Team has begun to have more custom Faction clothing created. We are currently working on Hanza clothing and will like to get some new pieces for all the factions. To include the new Armbands that have been created, that just need some small adjustments/tweaks.
  • Surface:
The original Surface will be even harder than before, we are working on making the surface temperature even colder than it was before with a unique mod which will allow us to control it. We are also in the process on implementing a new surface area that will be accessible via new teleports that we will be adding around the map. We are currently waiting on an update for the DayZ Editor to finish up the new surface, as there is currently a bug with it stopping us from finishing it up.
  • Mutants spawns added/tweaked:
Our new mutants are finally being added to the server to where they are spawning in when triggered by Dwellers. The Staff Team is working hard to get these implemented and make sure that they are spawning in correctly. They are completely redoing them throughout the entire map to include the old and new surface.
  • Station Jobs:
We are looking into the QoL in Stations around the Metro. The Staff Team has come up with some new jobs that will be available for Dwellers to do in their respective stations. These jobs currently include but not limited to: Barman, Hunting, Fishing, Weapons Shop, Blacksmith Shop, Clothing Store, Mushroom Tea Making, Medical Job, Butcher. These are still being implemented and we are working on the concepts of how we want them in the server, we are learning towards the route of unique workbenches that will be provided for Dwellers partaking in these new Station Jobs.
  • Keycard Rooms:
We are going to be reworking all the Keycard rooms to ensure that the access doors that are currently in the server are setup properly. We will then be adding more scattered throughout the Metro, to add more places to explore and find new places to reach.
  • Quests:
The Staff Team has been coming up with ideas for new quests to add to the server, that will add to the QoL for Dwellers and Factions. There will be a wide range of new quests that will hopefully improve the gameplay experience, these are still being discussed and we are hopeful they can start being implemented in the near future once the ideas are flushed out.
  • Detectors:
We will also be fully implementing Detectors into the server. These will allow players to detect Objects, Players/Mutants/Animals. The Objects will be setup for the teleport points on the map, allowing players to discover the new teleport locations that have been added. There will be three types of detectors In Hands Directional Detector, Placeable Spherical Detector, and In Hands Spherical Object Detector. We are still deciding on how we want to have these implemented either via quest, crafting, looting, or traders that is still up for discussion by the staff team.
  • Bug Fixes:
One thing that still needs to be complete is going through all of the Bug Tickets that were submitted during the last beta. We will be going through these soon to make sure everything that we have the ability to fix will be fixed, currently we have 26 bug tickets to go through. On that note there are quite a few things that are out of our control as they are handled by a 3rd party developer in their own mod.
  • New Mods Configured:
    • Mag Obfuscation
    • BuddysPack
    • ZoneTemp
    • FoodRegen

Possible Ideas:

  • Perk System
  • Courier Job Rework

Far Future:

We are still in the process of working on getting a whole new map created as well, this will be a more long term project and will not hold up the release of the server. We are looking into this so we can have a stronger foundation for the map, that will be better suited for the server. This will allow us a lot more freedom when adding things to the server, and creating unique areas/zones for the Metro.

Wrap-Up:

On behalf of the Owners & Staff Team I would like to thank you all personally for the commitment the player base has shown for the community. Without the community this server wouldn't be where it is today, and in the end we all want the same thing for the server. At this time we do not have a clear date when the server will be released. We have to work through the list above then we will be able to get a date for the community. We look forward to seeing you all at our full release once we finish up with the development.

As things from the list get complete we will be posting them in the Leaks channel in Discord, you will also begin to see updates to GitHub Repos under Development Updates as new things get added.

We will also be looking for a Community Ambassador that will interface/integrate with the community. The Community Ambassador will not be a Staff Member with official/moderation powers, but will be there to speak to the community, host Q&A panels, talk about progress, development, advertise the server, and to bring any concern up from the community directly to the Staff Team on behalf of the community. More info to come on the role in the near future.

We will also still looking for Developers to support in the development period. Pass the word around that we are looking! To include but not limited to:

  • 3D Models for map objects (Stations, Tunnels, Sewers, etc.)
    • 3D Modeling
    • Texturing
    • Rigging
    • Importing for DayZ
    • For new map/zone development
  • Clothing
    • 3D Modeling
    • Texturing
    • Importing for DayZ
  • Retexturing
    • Clothing
    • Weapons
    • Objects, etc.

P.S.

Some may think this is not a lot, but I feel that some do not realize a lot of this is being done from scratch. We are having to find Developers who are able to complete the tasks at hand. Some may think that we can just use mods already created and we do for somethings. But most items cannot or if they are on the workshop, they are not implemented properly and we cannot edit them so we are having to do it on our own, so it will be implemented correctly. That is why the server is taking longer to develop and we do not want players on a buggy server, this is all to make the QoL better for the community. We want to make sure we have a server that everyone can enjoy right from the beginning at launch. If you feel that the server will die due to this delay then that is your opinion, but I will speak for the Management Team here that we are passionate about this project and we will see it all the way through. It will not die due to this delay or lack of interest from the Management Team.

Thank you all
